On July 8 ILWU Local 502 hosted the first ever "Taking it to the Streets" 4 on 4 ball hockey tournament  in support of the Surrey Food Bank . Steph and Dan found some time on that day to talk with BCFMWU president Graeme Johnson and secretary treasurer Brian Lalli. We had a quick conversation about the trash talk leading up to the event as well as some history and news from the BCFMWU before we all had to get back to the games.

We went down to Tacoma for a "Passing the torch" education event put on by Local 23 Young Workers, and Pensioners committees. We then had a chance to sit down with Brian Skiffington, Zack Pattin, and Local 23 president Dean McGrath, and talk about the ILWU's 10 guiding principals....................This episode could really be called "Zack drops Knowledge bombs", but i don't think he would like that.

Mike heads all the way to Stewart B.C. to talk with ILWU Local 519 workers about the lies they were told, and false promises made. The community was promised family supporting jobs that would stay in their small community. Thats not what happened.....

ILWU Canada Young Worker Committee member Stephanie Dobler takes the helm and sits down with ILWU 2nd VP Steve Nasty, Brian Skiffington of ILWU 23 in Tacoma, and Danielle Burgess also of the ILWU Canada Young workers committee. The group discussed the youth movement in the ILWU and their time at the ILWU Canada Convention.

We headed down to the Grant’s Law Sit-in put on by the BCFED Young Workers Committee, to commemorate the tragic death of Grant DePatie in 2005, who was killed when attempting to stop the theft of $12.30 in gas at an Esso station in Maple Ridge. Since Grant’s death, the Liberal government broke their promise to improve safety for late night workers. We were joined by Carlos Carvalho, Sussanne Skidmore, and Caitlin Davidson King.

Northwest TPP Summit, a collection of activists form all of the the Pacific Northwest west sharing strategies to fight the TPP. We start with Lynne Dodson secretary treasurer of Washington State Labor Council and Gillian Lacascio Director of the Washington Fair Trade Coalition. Then Zack hijacks the show with a group of activists Michelle Heckler, Ronna Loerch, Peggy Bruton and Joanna Schoettler.

After updating us on all things RMT Steve refers us to Mick Cash RMT General Secretary to give us a update on the situation in London and the strikes on the Tubes. We finish this one with Dean McGrath ILWU 23 and Adrian Adrian Evans from WA Branch, taking about the sister relationship between each parties.

We were lucky to get a few minutes with Zac Kinzett and Warren Hopkins. Two of the five aussie seafarers chased off their ship and robbed of there jobs and livelihoods, only to be replaced by $2 a day foreign labour.
