Dan and Mike went to Nanimo for the rededication of a mounument to 6 seattle longshormen killed in an explosion in 1886. The whole story was told on the Hawaii #12 episode. We had two unexpected opportunities to quickly speak with two great people. First was ILWU 19 VP Jason Gross. The second was with ILWU International Secratary Treasurer Willy Adams.

 

The audio is not very good, we were in a big empty room with just a hand help recorder.

Padraig "Paddy" Crumlin is the National Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) and the President of the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF). One of the biggest figure heads in the labour movement worldwide, 
Crumlin has wide involvement in the port authority, towage, shipping, cruise ship and stevedoring industries in Australia and Internationally. Thankfully he had some time to sit and talk with us and we hung on every word as did the small crowd that formed around our table during his segment. A magnetic personality, fearless leader and great union man. This is a must listen.
